IPT Core Course for Peace Builders

The ENTRi certified CORE COURSE comprises theoretical inputs and practical exercises tailored to the realities in the field. All modules enhance interpersonal skills, highlight the importance of active involvement in the host society, and promote a reflective and critical approach. Specialisation Course Conflict Transformation

During this specialisation course, participants get acquainted with the underlying philosophical approaches, theoretical concepts and practical tools for facilitating conflict transformation in complex constellations. Participants will develop skills and practice a facilitatorís attitude to apply their knowledge in different settings (eg. as inside mediators, as third party, or when working with potential veto groups) and at different societal levels. A strong focus on self-reflection is an integral part of the course.

Participants will:

  • learn the difference between concepts, such as conflict management, conflict resolution, conflict  transformation, dialogue, mediation, negotiation, facilitation
  • apply tools for complex conflict analysis (actors mapping, structural power analysis, analysis of cultural meanings, needs Analysis)
  • learn how to deal with emotions and irrational aspects of conflict
  • develop key competencies how to promote, support and guide reflective “deep dialogue” processes
  • develop strategies how to deal with dynamics of exclusion and stigmatization, as well as power asymmetries in conflict constellations

Target Group:

  • Field practitioners (e.g. development and humanitarian aid practitioners) who are actively engaged in conflict transformation activities
  • Technical experts of diverse professions who wish to devise conflict sensitive approaches in their work and enhance their conflict sensitivity and skills
  • People who have attended the IPT Core Course and are interested in specialising in conflict transformation

Course Fees: 1.410€ include tuition fees, course materials, coffee breaks, full-board accommodation, joint transport to and from the airport, and a social event.

 

 

 

Specialisation Course Conflict-Sensitive Project Management

The training aims to prepare experts for successful design, implementation and evaluation of international development projects in post-conflict - and less developed areas. The purpose of this training is to familiarise participants with international standards, the project management cycle, human resource management as well as concepts and promising practices. The course also seeks to enable participants to exchange respective expertise.

Specialisation Course Human Rights in Conflict

The course aims at enhancing the skills needed by professionals to monitor, protect and promote human rights in the field. The acquired knowledge helps to ensure that their work is efficient, relevant, sustainable, participatory, and carried out safely during or after armed conflict.
The course will enhance participantsí understanding of international and regional human rights law and standards and equip them with the necessary tools to apply this knowledge to their everyday work in the field. The course is designed to raise participantsí self-awareness in terms of behaviour, attitudes and values when dealing with human rights issues in international peace-building and peacekeeping activities.
